You may text information to (021) 252 5294 or email office@takanini.school.nz if you have more information or questions.
If you have any concerns about your child attending school please contact us as we welcome an opportunity to discuss this with you.
We understand that sometimes families need to take their children out of school during term time for reasons such as overseas travel, family circumstances, medical needs, or participation in sporting and cultural events. If your child will be away from school for an extended period, we ask that you apply in writing to the Principal as early as possible, preferably at least four weeks before the planned absence.
The school will consider each request individually. Approval is not automatic and will take into account the reason for the absence, the impact on learning, and the student's attendance history. Requests to extend holidays or take advantage of cheaper airfares are unlikely to be approved.
Where appropriate, the school may work with families to develop a distance learning plan to help students stay connected to their learning while they are away. Application forms for extended leave, along with the school's procedures for requesting and approving extended leave, are available on our school website (see right) and from the school office. Our goal is to work together with families while also supporting regular school attendance, which is important for student learning and success.
